Second Place at Academies’ World Cup 2016

FROM FLORIDA WE WANT TO CONGRATULATE OUR STORM FC 2005’S YOUTH TEAM, WHO FINISHED AS RUNNERS UP IN THE ACADEMIES’ 2016 WORLD CUP AT BARCELONA, AFTER PLAYING THE FINAL AGAINST MADRID’S RAYO VALLECANO.

The Fundacion Marcet Academies’ World Cup is an international tournament played every year, since 1975, at Barcelona, Spain. More than 20,000 football clubs have taken part on it, including Barcelona FC, Real Madrid FC, Milan, amongst others.

The cup has given the opportunity to more than 300,000 kids from many different countries from around the world to play and showcase their skills at the fields to many European scouts, while learning about different cultures and also enjoying the views of Barcelona. This year, the Cup was played on the fields of our sports partner, the Fundación Marcet, and it hosted first level teams such as Juventus, Arsenal, Atletico de Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, making our kids experience a very competitive one, full of excellent courts, players and coaches.

During the 10 days of the World Cup, our players had two shifts per day consisting of 90-minutes training sessions every morning and matches in the afternoon. During the breaks, the kids had the opportunity of visiting several cultural places that a city like Barcelona offers: beaches, the zoo, the Sacred Family and FC Barcelona’s Stadium, etc. The cup finished on this Saturday 30th of July, with Rayo Vallecano becoming the champions of it after playing against our team. Our kids also played the semifinals on the same day.

The Storm FC youth team is grateful for having participated in this unique experience in the development of our kids, who desire to become the players of tomorrow!
